Payless Car Rental in Atlanta, Georgia - Rude in ATL

I had an issue with them as well in mid December. I pre-paid. On my trip to Atlanta from Anchorage, I was in Seattle and found out someone attempted to use my card. I called the bank and told them I just started my trip and needed access to my card for the remainder of the trip. I was assured that wouldn't be a problem. In Atlanta I went to rent the car and the card was declined. I called the card company and got the issue worked out. Payless refused to run the card again while I was on the phone with the card company. I disputed the charge and rented from Advantage instead. Never again will I use Payless. They were rude. I told them to "F O" after I had the papers from Advantage.

I am writing to bring you into awareness about the truly terrible experience we had with Priceline and Payless car rentals in Merida. We had a car rented several weeks before our trip with Payless through Priceline.com. Upon arrival to Merida, we waited two hours at the airport for a shuttle. No one came. I called the car company several times, no one answered the phone. I called customer support several times, they told me they didn't know how to help and suggested that I again call car company. We eventually got tired and took a cab to the rental company. There we were told there was no car available. The man at the front desk said nothing was ever received in his system, even though when we called earlier it said our reservation was confirmed. We spent another hour there trying to figure it out with absolutely no assistance from the man at the counter. he simply shrugged his shoulders, said he didn't know anything and there was nothing he could do. We had the same experience with three different customer service agents on the telephone. As a result, The first night of our vacation was marked by the stress of this experience. In turn, we missed a planned trip to visit nearby ruins and beach town the next day, as we had no car available to us. Instead we spent our morning trying to find a a car to rent, which proved to be very difficult as it was last minute and the day before New Year's Eve. We were told there was a shortage of cars in the city and were turned away by many companies. When we finally found a car, it was more than double the price!!! We had to take it however as we had other destinations to be at that week. Yet again, on the following day our early travel plans to visit more historical ruins on our way to Tulum were ruined, as we spent the morning waiting for our new car. All in all, this mess up really hurt us. We missed about 3 days of travel we had planned, paid way more money for a rental car last minute, and had a lot of added stress to the beginning of our trip. In addition to that, no one from either company really seemed to care or offer any meaningful assistance. Basically we were left stranded, with minimal ability to speak Spanish, to venture out and fix a problem the company created! I'm guessing that this is a bit of a scam that happens in Mexico. I think that the prices went way up as it was the week after Christmas and before New Year's, and there was a shortage of cars in Merida. I speculate that the company deleted our reservation and gave the car away to someone willing to pay a lot more, leaving us in the lurch. Really an aweful experience... RENTER BEWARE!!!

I rented from them and was charged 30% more than their "No Surprises" pricing. There was NOT full disclosure concerning the roadside assistance plan. My reservation total was $193.52 but total charges for the rental were $255.66. I can only assume the RSP accounts...

Every year I go sking in Breckenridge, fly into Denver, rent a car and get pressured into getting an all wheel drive. "They will give you a ticket if you have 2 wheel drive"....

payless is out to cheat people. I reserved an SUV on line and paid extra for it. When I got to the counter they said they were out of SUVs and only had compact cars. We didn't fit with our luggage and children in a compact car. They didn't offer to reduce the rate for a different car nor did they offer to provide two cars to fit all of our luggage. Just shrugged their shoulders and said oops we have no cars. Never rent here.

Payless Car Rental in Fort Lauderdale, Florida - Terrible!

These are the worst thieves in the car rental business. They quote you a very low rate for an auto, then add all taxes and fees (most companies do) so $15/day turns into $35 a day, but when you turn the car in, you end up with $55, and their customer service comes up with lame excuses to justify it, in my case I changed the pick-up location. I did call them to make the change, and the person on the phone guaranteed the price, but they "lost all records"... Disgusting thieves! Change your name from Payless to Shameless!!

AVOID! They're a scam. I had a terrible experience with Payless. I rented a toyota camry on day 1, while driving on the freeway the brakes started vibrating and a couple of hours later "Check Engine" light turned on. Even though I had Roadside Assistance I was asked to bring the car back to their location at the airport. I took it back on day 2 and all they had was an old impala (which was dirty). I was forced to upgrade to a full-size car, which was $30 additional per day. So I paid additional fees and rented a dodge charger. The very next day, on my way to LA the brakes stopped working in the dodge! I had to stop the car by shifting gears (almost killed my family). I was stranded on a highway just outside the Vegas desert for THREE HOURS with my family, until their roadside crew arrived. They badly badly let me down by bringing in a Kia with a broken passenger seat! I had no choice but accept the car drive to LA because I couldn't wait any longer somewhere I didn't know with my family. So i'm paying a premium for the full-size Dodge, and they replaced it with a lower grade mid-size Kia and made no change to the new bill (which was handed to me by the roadside assistance guy). I called their manager at the Vegas location, but every time I called I was told that she was at a meeting. I left a voice message, but never heard from the manager. Finally after I handed in the car back in Vegas, I demanded to talk to the manager and they gave me the same response "she's at a meeting", so I wrote a complaint letter and handed in to their front desk. Two days later, I still haven't heard from anyone. Then I called their main office and filed a complaint. They wanted 72 hours to respond. Next I called my bank, only to find out that I was billed for the premium I paid for the dodge, which broke down. Stay away at all costs. Payless is a scam! Their billing statements are confusing, you'll need an hour to figure out what you were billed for. I was also told that I will need to pay $5 extra per day for their roadside assistance, but found out later that I was billed $5.99 per day (I was completely misled by them). They had no regard for my issue, never even called to apologize! Billed me unfairly, offered no rebate/discount to at least acknowledge the disruptions caused to my trip. Two broken cars in 3 days, took three hours for roadside assistance to arrive, 3rd replacement car had a broken passenger seat, received no apology, zero discount to acknowledge disruptions caused to the trip, never heard from a manager to-date, wrongly billed! YOU DECIDE IF YOU WANT TO GO AHEAD WITH THIS COMPANY. Good luck!

Payless Car Rental in Oakland, California - Charged for a previous customers coffee spill

I rented a Payless car on 12/5 in Oakland CA. They asked me to walk around the car to inspect and I did. 10 minutes later after renting I got in the car and noticed coffee stains on the passenger seat. Upon returning the car the agent inspected and said that looks like fresh coffee stains on the seat. I said I picked it up like that and I had no passengers in the car and did not eat or drink in the car. She said ok and they would check out the previous renter. Two days later I was charged $96.02 for the car rental and another $136.88 for a car detail. This is so wrong, I would have tried cleaning the car or just told them I di it if this was the case. They are pretty much just calling me a liar. Cleaning a car seat was more money than a 5 day car rental.

SCAM!!! Do not rent from Payless car rental

I rented a car online with Payless for the first time. I went to pick up car at 7:00am as stated on confirmation. I waited for almost an hour and no one arrived at the desk. I contacted the customer service who advised me all they can do is put in a ticket that will take up 72hrs to be resolved. So, I left. I tried to contact Jax desk office who I spoke with a Whitney who advd me that I will be charged anyway. I have never been treated so poorly by a company in my life. I will never rent from them again. I contacted my bank to dispute the charges. I also will open a file with the better business bureau because of their work ethics. It is ridiculous how rude and uncooperative those employees are.

Reserved and paid for rental . Showed valid Id. Have major credit card also. Was told to bring proof of residence bank statement, utility bill. WTF!!!??? I showed 2 govt Ids with my address already. Cancelled based on non service and they want to keep my money. *** no. Disputed charges and let credit company handle them. They suck big time. Never again will I rent here and I live here. Theres gotta be a better way to treat people. So embarrassing. I am an American citizen with house, car etc. Was renting as kids home from college and I let them have my car for the week.
