Payless Car Rental - Error with online booking, was charged twice

I went online to book a rental car and the website stated a charge could not be made on my card. There is no reason for that, so I figured I typed in the wrong card number. I got the message again so I went to another company and rented a car no problem. Then I looked at my credit card statement online and it shows Payless charged me twice for the rental! I called customer service, they were rude and dismissive and ill-informed. I was told it would be 5 business days to release the funds on my card. I told the representative that was outrageous and he hung up on me! I wasn't rude, I treat people with respect, there was no reason for him to hang up on me. I called back several times in an attempt to speak with a supervisor, was put on hold for a total of over 1 hour and a supervisor never picked up. I am concerned that they will say the charges a non-refundable for the rental. This company is a joke! One phone call to customer service and you will see that for yourself. Be careful about renting online as you may find yourself in the same situation I am in.

Payless Car Rental in Tampa, Florida - Accused of damages for a mechanically unfit car

Details
Car would significantly shake when approached 60mph on highway. Reported the issue to the manager on duty when the car was returned. 6 months later received a letter falsely accusing me of damages due to an accident. The car was not damaged while in my possession. I only reported a mechanical issue. No details were provided in the letter. Received a second letter a month later asking for my insurance info so that they could file an insurance claim for $1,032.48 Since when does a rental car company expect the customer to pay for the upkeep of their fleet by filing false insurance claims

Payless Car Rental - Watch them carefully

I picked up a car at the Phoenix Sky Harbor rental location at 12:30pm. It was going to be for 3-1/2 days. I made sure the agent understood that we'd be dropping it off just before our flight (5 pm). He gave us the price and, while it was incredibly high for the vehicle type, we accepted. When we turned it back in , the total came to $120 over the agreed amount. The agent said that we were supposed to have turned it in 4-1/2 hours earlier (at 10:30am). Don't believe anything their agents tell you. Comb over everything they give you before you sign anything. Their website also keeps defaulting everything to 10:30 am (pick up and drop off) every time you make a change to a reservation before finalizing it. Deceptive practices.

I went to Puerto Rico on September 04 2017 and had rented a car on 9/04/2017 that I made a reservation for a Corolla Toyota (black)for 629.81 dollars as I arrived to Payless Car Rental I gave them my reservation information, they decided to rent me a Rio Kia (blue) all scratched for the amount 804.30 I returned the vehicle on 10/01/2017 I supposed to return it on 10/02/2017 some how I couldn’t get a refund even there was a hurricane prior on those days. Payless Car Rental - Got charget $120 for gas refuel, even though returned the car with full tank

I rented a car at JFK, returned it with full tank, few days later got charget $120 for gas refuel. They said you I would need gas receipts to prove I had a full tank. They don't have any customer service that you can call. Worst company ever. Then a week later charged my credit card $16 for some toll and also said I would have to bring them receipt. Payless Car Rental - Very Disssatisfied with Customer service of Mary Shea returns manager and Susan at Las Vegas Airport

I experienced a poorly managed and handled situation with a young lady Susan and her manager Mary Shea. I arrived around 10:45pm at the return desk in the garage for my 12:45am flight. I get to the counter and express that I won't be using the card on file, I will be using cash as I adamantly expressed to Bryson during my pick up of the rental. At that time nothing was said to me about not having issues with paying cash. So I inform Susan that night that I would be paying with cash, she informs me that it was drawer switch over time and I wouldn't be able to pay with cash until after 12am. I said how is that possible when my flight leaves at 12:45am, I would never be able to make it back to the terminal. She looked at me and said, "There’s nothing I can do". I then went on to say that it wasn't explained to me that if I returned the vehicle back at 10:45pm that I would have to wait until 12am to pay cash. She then just stared at me like she didn't care, she never once apologizes for the inconvenience. I then ask for the manager who was Mary Shea who was walking up, so I explained the situation to her, she does the same thing as Susan looks at me like "Well there’s nothing I can do". I then said "do you understand my dilemma” Mary Shea, shrugged her shoulders and maintained that there was nothing she could do. I then said I would write the corporate office and I was also a manager and she wasn't resolving my issue or even sympathizing with me. By then I used a card that that I didn't want to use and expressed my displeasure. At that point she got upset with my forcefulness, and slammed the sliding window shut and said "*** YOU" as she was closing the window. At that point I made a scene, and I was highly upset and walked away with security.

Payless Car Rental - GROSSLY OVERCHARGED ON MY CREDIT CARD

In my 35 years of renting cars I have NEVER experienced or worked with a corporation or more inept at helping consumers than Payless Car Rental. I rented a vehicle at Newark Airport for 30 hours, a Ford Focus. When I booked it the charge was $21.99/day. With all of the surcharges I would imagine the total would be somewhere around $60.00+ at the most. Upon return, because the woman was SO SLOW and I could not wait, she assured me the receipt would be emailed to me. It wasn't. Not only that but just receiving my CC bill today I noticed the charge for the rental was $608.11!!! So I began my quest of trying to find someone (not in Mexico) to help me with this. I contacted the Newark Airport desk 3 times and let it ring over 20 times each time...no answer. Every time I called their "customer service" line it diverted me to Mexico where NO ONE could help me. Asked for managers, supervisors, it didn't matter...no one could help. I looked up their corporate office in St. Petersburg Florida and called that number, the number i have reached is not in service. Dont bother calling 1-800-PAYLESS because that is Mexico. I don't know why they give you all of the options on the phone because they ALL lead to Mexico and they cannot help you. After 1.5 hours of trying, I contacted my credit card company and told them to dispute the charge. Let them deal with it. All I know is, DO NOT RENT FROM PAYLESS CAR RENTAL...EVER!!

Payless Car Rental - Taking advantage of a customer

I reserved a payless car at the memphis airport for $21.00 a day. I was flying in from san diego with a stopover in dallas on 8/27/17. Because of the weather in dallas flight delays occured and i missed the flight to memphis but AA had me booked on the next flight out. That was delayed 2 hrs as well. I got into mempis after payless closed. The only rental place open was an avis and they wanted $157.00 per day. I slept on the floor that night in front of the payless counter.The reason why I was at that airport is my father was put into the hospital in conway arkansas and I was told to get there because it didnt look good for him. It was much cheaper to fly to mempnis and rent a car than littlerock as I have limited funds. I just tried to extend my rental car as I am sitting next to my father in his hospital bed just being put on a ventilator. I asked the rental car person why they couldnt honor the rate originally qouted and she replied i didnt pick up the car when i said i would so it was my fault. And im getting charged an extra fee for extending the car rental(like i have a choice my dad is dying) i asked what yhe charge would be to drop the car at little rock instead of memphis she told me i would have to drive to little rock and ask she couldnt tell me what a rip off. Horrible horrible service
